Helping you navigate EU calls for proposals

Finding the right EU call can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. That’s why the EU advisor in the Eyde Cluster has started sending out a shortlist of customized calls to companies.

-Identifying the right EU project for your company within the overwhelming amount of information coming from Horizon Europe can be complex. There’s a jungle of calls with ‘cryptic’ wording. Our EU advisor, Christophe Pinck, plays a crucial role here, as he identifies what is both relevant and important for the companies, says Frank Spetland, Head of R&D in the Eyde Cluster, who is pleased every time concrete projects land on the table. Christophe is well-acquainted with both the companies’ R&D focus and Horizon Europe—something that greatly benefits the companies.

Wouldn’t Have Managed Alone

-I think it’s very positive to have an EU advisor in the cluster, and we greatly appreciated the help we received in the early stages of identifying the ‘right’ call. It’s sometimes difficult to navigate between all the different calls and programs. For us, getting tips about the types of programs and calls that might be relevant for our industry is a huge help, says Anne-Karin Søiland, Senior R&D Engineer at ReSiTec.

They are one of the companies that received a shortlist of relevant EU calls customized to them. Søiland admits that it would have taken them considerably longer to find the right EU call for their project if it hadn’t been for the work done by EU advisor Christophe Pinck. They have now submitted a project together with SINTEF.

New Shortlist Coming Soon

-Last year, I started screening through thousands of pages of calls to find those that might suit the companies. I then created a shortlist of potential projects I thought matched their strategic priorities. I’ve also offered to help them formulate the applications, says EU advisor Pinck.

The reason he does this work for the companies is that it simply takes too much time for them to navigate the maze of calls themselves.

-I also have a good overview of what the companies are working on and what calls are out there. I’m even involved in writing some of them, which gives me insight before they’re published, says Pinck.

Much of the focus is on circularity, critical raw materials, electrification, digitalization, and carbon capture.
He is currently working on formulating new calls to be published in September/October. Companies can soon expect a tailored shortlist of suitable calls.

-They’re also welcome to reach out to me directly, the EU advisor adds.
